Located on the stunning golden sands of Studland Bay, Knoll Beach Cafe offers a delightful seaside escape that merges breathtaking views with a menu sure to satisfy diverse palates. Guests rave about their hot chocolate and an impressive selection from the chip shop menu—think beer-battered cod and mouthwatering vegan sausage rolls. It’s not just the food; the cafe prides itself on its friendly service and ample, accessible seating, making it a welcoming spot for all visitors.
However, the cafe has faced some criticism, especially regarding the parking fees imposed by the National Trust, which can be steep for beachgoers. This has led some patrons, like Kate Williams, to reminisce about the pre-COVID days when the cafe offered a broader range of ice cream options and longer hours for blissful beach dinners. Despite these concerns, the overall ambiance remains cherished. Customers, such as Martin For, note that it evokes a Mediterranean vibe while still grounding its identity in classic British beach traditions.
Knoll Beach Cafe stands as a testament to the allure of the British coastline, offering not just food, but an entire experience steeped in comfort, community, and nature.

Reviews for Knoll Beach Cafe
Review highlights
Based on 1,037 reviewsKnoll Beach Cafe, situated on Studland Bay's picturesque golden sands, is widely praised for its stunning beachfront location and welcoming atmosphere. Visitors appreciate the café's diverse menu, offering a range of food and drinks at reasonable prices, including notable vegan and specialty options. The friendly and efficient staff, along with accessible facilities such as nearby public toilets and ample seating, enhance the overall experience. While some customers miss the pre-pandemic extended hours and wider ice cream selection, the café remains a favored spot for both casual refreshments and beachside relaxation. Feedback often highlights the value of the adjacent National Trust amenities, despite occasional concerns about parking costs. Overall, Knoll Beach Cafe is regarded as a charming and convenient seaside destination.
this place is right on the beach on Studland bay. My favourite beach of all time. Beautiful golden sands as far as the eye can see. the cafe is superb large variety of food and drinks at very reasonable prices. Public toilets straight opposite, and all accessible for wheelchair users. lots of seating, lovely pleasant staff. my only criticism is the National trust who totally rip people off with the carpark charging £5 for 2 hours, £10 for 4 hours, and if you want to spend the day there on the beach, you need to take out a loan. shame on you National Trust.
Our favourite beach - nothing beats sitting with a coffee or ice cream looking out at this view - even in the winter! I won't give 5 stars because the cafe used to be better pre-covid when they had a better selection of Marshfield ice cream and the cafe used to stay open into the evening so you could have a really good burger or fish dinner on the beach (National Trust please reinstate this along with big iced lemon water station you used to be able to refill your bottle from - £4 for a bottle of water from the ice cream hut is not ok!). Despite the moan it is still our favourite beach and cafe and thoroughly recommend to everyone no matter the time of year.
Best beach on the south coast! Not the cheapest but if you’re travelling from London, then you won’t find a better place. Food is sufficient, not too much.. shop has everything from beach toys to clothes… plenty of sand and nice people around you. I’ve been here for decades and cannot find a better place. The ice cream boat is 4£ but it doesn’t matter as it’s your holiday. Lots of quality camping around if you’re into that ! No music on the beach, everyone is peaceful, no rubbish, no drugs, no funny faces! Proper British south coast beach where Europeans can feel good! I can hear German Dutch French Polish Romanian Italian Swedish on this beach… safe!
Stayed in September. Lush beach. Crystal clear water. Had a swim. Lots of water activities to hire. Car park was expensive (national trust) , £8/ 4hrs. Though the ticket is transferable along all NT car parks through the day. Café, souvenir shop and toilets also in car park.
Located on Studland Sands, an excellent cafe, attached to a National Trust shop and toilet facilities. The person I was with said that the curry pasty was the best they have ever had, and the vegan sausage roll and chips were also excellent. We went there on a hot September day and you could almost imagine being at a beach front cafe in the Mediterranean (except everyone is eating chips with a cup of tea).
National Trust so absolutely lovely quality and choice. Being at Studland beach it's difficult to beat the views. Perfect place to see the sunset on Old Harry. Not just a cafe but large carpark, clean loos, shop and welcome hut. Staff are particularly kind and warm here. Shop is full of cute local things and treats. Their pickles and jams are delicious. I highly recommend the sour cherry curd paired with chocolate cake.
